Welcome to our newest project: the Eco/Klub!
From time to time (this can vary, keep an eye on the website and the newsletter) we organise a screening of a film with ecology as its main theme. The effects of climate change are looming over our heads, and while the ongoing climate crisis seems to spin out of control we feel passionate to think constructively about our relationship with the more-than-human through imaginative ecocinema. The films are carefully curated by our programmers, ranging from premieres to exclusive specials and classics. They are always with English subtitles, hence our communication is also in English. To make it more special, there will be a side programme before or after each screening, such as an introduction or aftertalk. The Eco/Klub is a prelude to the third edition of the Sprouts Film Festival, taking place May 7-12, 2024, at Studio/K and MACA | Moving Arts Centre Amsterdam.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
The Eco/Klub comes forth from the yearly Sprouts Film Festival, which had its origin at Studio/K in 2022. Sprouts Film Festival showcases cinema of the future by focussing on socially critical debut films, and ecocinema; films with a strong environmental focus. Under the banner of Sprouts OFFSPRING we highlight films that could have been included in the festival selection, but were given a regular Dutch release instead. We at Studio/K strongly believe in the power of these imaginative fiction films to disrupt the status quo.
