Elaha | SproutsFF23
Elaha by Milena Aboyan
Dutch Premiere | 2023 | Germany | 110 minutes
With her wedding day approaching no longer virgin Elaha finds herself split between Kurdish culture and sexual liberation. Her quest to surgically reconstruct her hymen lays bare a questionable practice that is still an everyday occurrence. Elaha is a self-determined woman setting her own rules to sexuality in this vivid, authentic film that rightfully stays close to its multilayered protagonist.
Following the screening on May 13th, there will be a Q&A-session with director Milena Aboyan.
The film is part of Sprouts Film Festival 2023, which will be held May 10-14. For more information about our festival and the SproutsFF23 films , click here.
