La Chimera (ENG SUBS)

Arthur, played by Josh O’Connor, is a young Englishman with a penchant for ancient civilizations. Alongside his friends, he earns a living by plundering Etruscan tombs in Italy and selling artifacts to wealthy collectors on the black market. In La chimera, Arthur, tormented by lost love, embarks on a quest to redeem himself and a forever-lost past.

Director Alice Rohrwacher portrays the contrast between the glory of the past and the bleak, profit-driven present without resorting to easy judgments or stereotypes, while discreetly and affectionately dissecting the complex character of her protagonist. Thanks to the camaraderie of an excellent cast, in which Isabella Rossellini shines with her humor and elegance, and the consistently stunning cinematography by Hélène Louvart, La chimera becomes a true cinematic journey.
