Melk (ENG SUBS)
A few days after her baby is stillborn, Robin’s breasts begin to produce milk. She can’t bring herself to throw away the milk and decides to save the bottles for donation. When donating proves more difficult to arrange than expected, her refrigerator starts to fill up more and more.
In her poignant feature film debut “Milk,” filmmaker Stefanie Kolk approaches the concept of grief not with dramatic music or heavy dialogue, but in its rawest and most natural form; with blank stares and unspoken thoughts. Frieda Barnhard beautifully and subtly embodies the role of Robin. She captures the complex bond between mother and child, the deep melancholy of loss, and Robin’s thoughtfulness in a very graceful manner.
