Following his younger brother Damir’s suicide attempt, Bruno and his family experience a profound and drastic transformation in their lives. This raw and authentic narrative is autobiographical, with the Croatian director portraying himself. A poignant and haunting family drama unfolds, exploring the theme of unconditional love for one’s cherished ones. The psychological intensity of the story is heightened by striking visual compositions, exceptional performances, and impactful dialogue. The film garnered recognition at the Locarno International Film Festival, winning the esteemed Best Actor award in the Filmmakers of the Present category.

Safe Place was screened in May 2023 during Studio/K’s own Sprouts Film Festival and won the Jury Award in the Debut Competition!
