Studio/Queer x IHLIA: screening Bloodsisters (1995) + paneltalk
In Bloodsisters: Leather, Dykes and Sadomasochism American documentary film from 1995, director Michelle Handelman follows a group of self-identified so-called leatherdykes (lesbian women, involved in BDSM-practices and part of the leather subculture) from San Francisco. Handelman was introduced into this subculture when she moved to San Francisco in 1986, and because she identified with the leatherdykes and wanted to capture their lives, she decided to create this well-received documentary. From pushy bottoms to macho femmes, Bloodsisters is an A-Z documentary guide that takes an interesting look at the 90s leatherdyke scene.
We will screen Bloodsisters on Tuesday the 21st of November at 19:00 in Studio/K! After the screening IHLIA and Studio/Queer have organized an aftertalk about the history and present of the leather dyke scene, S&M and bondage. Speakers will include the organises of femme pleasure/play parties, owners of queer sexshops and other experts. We invited speakers from a few organizations that play an important role in the LGTBI+ community, like Fite Qlub and the host of Squirt the Soleil.
