Tengo sueños eléctricos (ENG SUBS)
Director Valentina Maurel skillfully captures the delicate balance between love and hate in her debut film, “Tengo sueños eléctricos.” Returning to her childhood home of Costa Rica, Maurel creates an ideal backdrop for this introspective coming-of-age tale. Eva (Daniela Marín Navarro) grapples with the divorce of her parents, yearning to live with her father Martin (José Pablo Segreda Johanning) and escape the company of her mother and sister, whom she finds unbearable. However, Martin himself is adrift, unable to provide the stability Eva seeks during her tumultuous teenage years. As they navigate their yearning for affection and stability, their confusion and anger manifest in their relationship with one another. Eva also discovers that the adults in her life are not immune to their own struggles. “Tengo sueños eléctricos,” a Belgian production, made a significant impact at the Locarno Film Festival, winning three prestigious awards for Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Actor during its world premiere.
