In the near future where artificial intelligence reigns supreme, human emotions have become a threat. They are considered perilous in making fair and just decisions. In order to erase her feelings, Gabrielle decides to purify her DNA using a machine that immerses her in her past lives. There, she repeatedly encounters a man named Louis with whom she feels a powerful connection that she cannot place. At the same time, she is overcome with a fearful feeling, as if a disaster is looming. “The Beast” is a romantic sci-fi thriller about the influence of AI on the uniqueness of humanity. Told across three time periods, director Bertrand Bonello explores the power of emotions and the potential disappearance of humanity in society in a Lynchian manner.
