Ukrainian Signal Fundraiser: Screening Homeward (2019) & talk

On November 19, Studio/K and Ukrainian Signal will offer a collaborative charity showcase of the film Homeward (2019), originally called Evge. This film screening (with English subtitles) starts at 19:30 and will be followed by a Q&A session with the movie’s crew including the director, Nariman Aliev. On top of that, €6,- of each ticket will go to Humanitarian aid and the defense of Ukraine.

Having lost his oldest son in the war between Russia and Ukraine, Mustafa is determined to bring the boy’s body to his native land: Crimea. On this journey in Homeward (2019), he will be joined by his younger son which will have a profound impact on their relationship.

An additional note from the director: “This is my feature debut as well as my reflection upon what is happening with my family and me at this difficult time for my country – Ukraine – and my people. I live and work in Kyiv; my parents live in Crimea. I cannot go back there because I cannot make peace with the occupation of the peninsula, and my parents do not want to move, as they are not ready to leave the Homeland they have only recently regained.”

This screening will be with English subtitles.
