Witte Flits (ENG SUBS)

42-year-old Rick (Sanne den Hartogh) has been struggling with severe psychological issues for over 20 years. After an intensive, years-long process, he receives approval for euthanasia due to unbearable and hopeless suffering. His parents, Aagje (Renée Soutendijk) and Toon (Raymond Thiry), now face the task of letting him go forever. Is their love strong enough to support Rick in his deep desire for a dignified end?

What do you do when your son no longer wants to live? Director Laura Hermanides was inspired to make Witte Flits by two parents who lovingly supported their son in his fight for euthanasia due to unbearable psychological suffering. Years of contact with these parents and other closely involved individuals eventually led to her debut film Witte Flits, which will open the Netherlands Film Festival on September 20.
